Dryer Vent Repair, Rerouting & Bird Guards

When cleaning isn't enough, we fix the vent itself: crushed hose, disconnected lines, broken exterior covers and runs that are simply too long.

Quick answer

Fortex Air Vent Cleaning Service repairs and replaces dryer vents in Port St. Lucie and nearby Treasure Coast cities. We replace crushed or plastic hose with metal duct, reroute long runs, and install bird guards and new exterior vent covers. Call (772) 677-8038.

Common dryer vent problems we fix

  • Crushed transition hose behind the dryer, usually from pushing the dryer back too far.
  • Plastic or foil accordion hose. It sags, traps lint and isn't meant for long runs. We replace it with semi-rigid or rigid metal duct.
  • Disconnected line inside a wall or attic, dumping hot, wet lint into the house.
  • Runs that are too long or have too many turns. We reroute for a shorter, straighter path when possible.
  • Broken or stuck exterior covers. Flaps that stick shut, cracked plastic hoods and missing screens.
  • Bird and rodent nests. We clear them out and install a bird guard that keeps animals out while still letting lint escape.

Bird guard and vent cover replacement

Florida birds love warm dryer vents. A nest can block the line completely in a few days. A properly sized bird guard keeps them out without trapping lint. We replace brittle plastic hoods with durable covers that close properly, so rain and pests stay outside.

Why metal duct matters

Smooth metal duct moves air faster, collects less lint and won't melt or tear. Building codes generally call for metal duct for dryer exhaust. If your home still has a long run of white plastic or thin foil hose, replacing it is one of the cheapest safety upgrades you can make.

Fortex cleaned our dryer vent quite nicely. There was quite a bit of lint buildup, and they did a thorough job cleaning it out. The dryer seems to be getting better airflow now. Good service and easy to work with.

So here's what happened. I'd been putting off dryer vent cleaning for way too long. Finally got to the point where I couldn't ignore it anymore. Called around to a few air duct places and most either didn't pick up or gave me a vague quote …

FAQ

Dryer Vent Repair & Replacement questions

Do you install bird guards on dryer vents?

Yes. We remove any nest, clean the line and install a guard sized for dryer exhaust, so birds stay out but lint can still escape.

Should I replace a foil or plastic dryer hose?

Yes. Plastic and thin foil hose crush easily and trap lint. Semi-rigid or rigid metal duct is safer and lets the dryer work faster.

Can you shorten a long dryer vent run?

Often, yes. We check whether the vent can exit through a closer wall. When rerouting isn't practical, we straighten the run and remove extra turns.
